In this article, Johanna Kern talks about our perception and how to improve our well-being.

How do we fall in love with the world and find our place in it?

It has been scientifically proven that happy people are healthier, physically and emotionally, live longer, and have much more satisfying lives than unhappy and grumpy folks. Happiness helps us generate new ideas, think outside the box, and find more creative solutions. Have you ever wondered if you could be really happy?

Recent decades were characterized by intense technological and economic development, which drew people away from their inner longings and made them focus mainly on their careers or jobs. However, recent years have shown that any amount of income and material possessions, do not help to find true satisfaction with one’s own life. Therefore more and more people have begun to search for a deeper meaning of their existence. Some people look for solutions in books, religion, or esoteric studies, while others seek some sort of therapy sessions or coaching. Still, they are not always able to find good answers.

What does it mean to find your own place in the world?

Some people, when asked about that, might think about a specific location, such as a town, their family home, or perhaps a place somewhere in nature, where they can go when they find themselves exhausted with the struggles of everyday life. They treat such places as their sanctuary where they can feel safe, and protected, away from the rest of the world. Another way to find our place in the world is to find out what could be our true passion, doing things that bring us joy, and doing what we love. In other words, our place on Earth is where we can be at peace, where we can find fulfillment, no matter whether such a place is an actual place or state of mind.

“The way we see ourselves, the world, and our place in it, as well as what we experience in life, depends on our perception. That is, on what we can imagine as possible in our “reality.” It means that we can experience only what is, in our opinion, possible for us, one way or another.

Our perception is often deeply rooted in the way we have been programmed or in how we have programmed ourselves based on our experiences and beliefs. The way we perceive the world reflects how we perceive ourselves. Opening up to new possibilities allows us to improve our vision of ourselves, allowing us to be who we want to be, and not be limited to the way we have been programmed. Our vision of ourselves is not a fixed thing. It can be altered, or completely changed” – says Johanna Kern, transformational teacher, and the author of the two-time award-winning book “Master and Green-Eyed Hope”.

What determines your life experience? Is it your destiny or your free will?

People use various expressions to refer to what they perceive as someone’s destiny: fate, luck, circumstances, course of events, etc. However, what they mean is that some things are bound to happen.

Yet if we want to have an impact on our lives, as well as be in control of our emotions along the way, we need to cut off from this way of thinking. We need to accept that we determine our future. Therefore it is much better to embrace an opposite concept, which assumes that a person is born with a clean slate. In the course of our life, and thanks to the experience we acquire, we can create our fate. Each of us affects our destiny. It is we who create our reality, that’s why our happiness depends on us.

Having such awareness gives us incredible inner strength that guides us through every day and gives us the ability to cope with everyday stress, instead of passively succumbing to the course of events.

How to find an idea for who you want to be?

The basic answer to the question: “What am I to do in my life” is: do what you love!

If you truly enjoy what you do, you happily put a lot of time and energy into it, and so your efforts are more likely to be rewarded in some way, plus your life brings you happiness.

However, doing what you love requires finding out who you want to be. Therefore, it is worth considering whether our passions can be turned into our daily job.

And what if we have several or many various passions? Is it necessary to focus on just one? You can try to combine them and find a job that will make use of all of them.

And what about the people who think they don’t have any passion? Each of us is interested in some areas that simply make us feel good. Finding out what makes us happy is not a difficult process. All you need is to start asking yourself questions about what could be joyous for you to do and answer them from what you feel deep down inside. Do you like animals? You can become a volunteer at the animal shelter. Are you an avid reader who loves to stay home? Perhaps you could write book reviews, or maybe you can get inspired to start your blog or a YouTube channel.

Amid daily struggles, stress, and worry it is very easy to lose one’s joy of living. We stop being aware of what we truly need and we don’t notice the beauty and importance of our existence. We stop hearing our inner voice, which leads to a lack of joy of living, and this in turn leads to a lack of happiness. Instead of enjoying our existence, we begin to struggle with life and wrestle with each other. In such a situation, it is difficult to find our own path in life. But we have a choice.

Johanna Kern recommends spending some time alone, observing the benefits of it and the effects on our well-being:

“We can choose to trust life and understand the wisdom of our hearts. It doesn’t require great courage to do so. But it does require our attention: calming down our busy mind, and spending enough time alone. How much time do we need? It truly is a personal matter. For some people 20 minutes a day spent in the quietness of their own home creates miracles. For others it could be an hour-long walk in the park, where they can enjoy silence, listening to the sounds of beautiful nature.

Yes, you can find some time for yourself. After all, we always find time for what’s important to us. And when we decide that we deserve our attention, we find out that our own happiness is an important building block in creating a better, happy world. It is because our happiness helps us find our unique role in the world. Then we are not only able to follow our true destiny, but also through our example, we can show others that life is worth living. That it is possible to love life and live differently, more happily.”

Be happy and find your place in the world.

Happiness helps us live a fulfilling life, stay healthy, enjoy the challenges on our path, and find solutions to our problems.

To find our place in the world, we need to accept who we are, listen to our inner voice, and find ways to fall in love with our experience.

“When we find out who we are – we find the meaning of our life. When we find the meaning of our life – we find happiness.” – says Johanna Kern
