Where you are right now in your life is no coincidence. It isn’t just the result of the logistics of your birth, but also the outcome of what you have done, or not done, thus far.
It is easy to get used to any situation we are in, and it’s more difficult to welcome change and step onto uncertain ground.
When we get used to a situation that doesn’t benefit us anymore, but we have learned how to operate and survive under the circumstances – such a situation becomes our “habitual safety”. It means that we would rather deal with something that is familiar than try anything new. Because what’s new is scary. Many of us have a subconscious fear of the unknown.
When we try to change our negative thinking into positive and make changes in our lives in order to live the way we want – we should also take care of our subconscious mind.
Our subconscious is often packed with all sorts of fears, and the negative programming we acquired, usually in our childhood and/or early youth. For instance, all the criticism from our parents, caregivers, our teachers or society – could make us believe that we are not worthy of living a better life, that we don’t deserve success and happiness, that our life needs to be hard, and that we need to be miserable, depressed, tired, overwhelmed, not reaching for our dreams and goals.
If we don’t deal with the baggage of our subconscious – it will indeed be more difficult to change our situation. And that is because our subconscious rules on average 90% of our thinking and behavior. It is responsible for our habits, emotions, automatic reactions, defensive mechanisms etc.
