Trusting Our Barometer of Truth: A Journey to Inner Knowing
by Johanna Kern
“Welcome, Daughter,” said the ancient Master. And that’s how it all began.
Nothing was the same anymore. My life as I knew it was gone, and for the next many years I lived an adventure that one could find perhaps in fairytales and fantasy books — but not in day-to-day reality.
I am a filmmaker, very happy and fulfilled with my profession and not seeking to become something else. And yet, for whatever reason, in 1993 I started to fall regularly into trances where I met the ancient Master who turned everything I used to believe in totally upside down.
Yes, of course, I questioned my sanity. Back then we didn’t have an easy access to the Internet — and unless you were truly interested in mysticism and unusual experiences, you wouldn’t know that things like that sometimes happened to regular people. I was scared. And so I sought professional advice from psychologists. They assured me that what I was going through was a real mystical experience.
Despite their assessments, I remained skeptical. But on some deep level, I began to trust that it all would make sense to me one day. I realized that it wasn’t important whether the ancient Master was really reaching me from another world, or he was only a symbolic “form” acceptable to my mind, helping me to receive and comprehend the knowledge.
My inner barometer of truth was telling me that the knowledge given to me was too beautiful, too logical, and too profound to be simply dismissed. I decided to continue with the trances to find out more and to see where my experience would take me.
It wasn’t an easy journey, and I was afraid to share my story with others. Only a few of my closest friends knew my secret. It took a lot of courage and trust to take a leap from my everyday life, filled to the brim with plans and tasks, and follow the calling. Yet my INNER KNOWING was stronger than my skepticism.
The teachings given to me in deep trances paralleled my experiences of daily life, both personal and professional. They were designed in this way so that I could fully experience them, instead of acquiring the knowledge merely intellectually via my mind. They gave me an entirely fresh, new look at all that we hold as sacred — ourselves, our origins, and purpose: from how eternity perpetuates and how new universes come into existence, to what is the Wheel of Creation; from how our thoughts function in the field of energy that we are part of, to what is the meaning and nature of spirit, matter, life, death, visible and invisible worlds — and who are the citizens beyond time and body.
What happened next was quite strange: people from various walks of life started to appear on my path, asking for advice, healing, and guidance. It all seemed to happen in such a natural way, as if in some way they knew how to find me and knew that I could help them. Without revealing the source of my skills and knowledge, and while being a full-time filmmaker, I became a counselor, healer, and teacher.
When in 2013 I published my first book “Master and the Green-Eyed Hope” — a recollection of my experiences and some of the lessons I received during my trances, based on the journal I have kept throughout all the years — I wasn’t sure if I was doing the right thing. I had my professional filmmaking career going on and I was afraid that my unusual story might hurt it.
To my surprise, nothing like that happened. What’s more, my story got international attention, winning praise by readers in North America and Europe, receiving recognition at international book festivals and being endorsed by three world-renowned experts in the fields of psychology, the study of dreams and hypnosis, psychophysiology, parapsychology, psi, human development, neuro-computing, etc.
Thanks to my inner barometer of truth, I opened myself up to the most beautiful thing in my life.
No matter how strange our experiences are, when we are ready to listen, the knowing is loud and clear. When we know, it’s no longer about believing or not. It is about living our truth.
